Theory Practice Transfer
Literature and practice show that students of healthcare professions have problems applying knowledge they acquire at university in their professional life.
- … but how can teaching be improved so that students become more prepared for their future requirements?
- … and what support services should be offered during fieldwork placement?
In this participatory research project occupational therapy students and their teachers as well as fieldwork educators want to explore all these questions.
A qualitative survey will be carried out. Students, lecturers and fieldwork supervisors will be surveyed in four focus groups. After data analysis an online survey to gather quantitative data will be undertaken.
The aim of the project is to identify gaps in theory-practice transfer and to point out suitable solutions. The results of these surveys should improve teaching and fieldwork education to provide students with a more consistent and coordinated education.
