Center for Interprofessionality
There is no silver bullet to learn successful interprofessional cooperation, but acquiring core interprofessional competencies requires a learning process that begins as early as possible.
"Functional interprofessionalism in the healthcare sector is seen as a key building block for the future. We make an important contribution to this in our education by allowing our students to experience modern forms of cooperation."

Core Competencies
Interprofessional education (IPE) can only be considered effective if interactive learning methods are used that enable students to get to know each other and learn from each other (Mackay, 2002).
IPE activities promote six core competencies:
- Interprofessional Communication
- Teamwork
- Clarification of Roles and Responsibilities
- Shared Decision-Making
- Conflict Resolution
- Continuous Quality Improvement
If interprofessional education (IPE) is to be successful, it requires structured interactions with other professionals and reflective processes. By experiencing and questioning one's own perspectives, attitudes, perspectives, and stances can be shaped in such a way that they enable true interprofessionalism (Sottas, 2015).
Overview of ECTS
The goal of Interprofessional Education (IPE) is more effective professional practice and improved interprofessional collaboration (Sottas, 2015). The scope of IPE activities in the sense of Interprofessional Education (IPE) in the bachelor's degree programs at the University of Applied Sciences for Health Professions Upper Austria amounts to 35.5 ECTS. These are reflected in the modules Health Sciences (11 ECTS), Academic Writing (19 ECTS), and Interprofessionalism (5.5 ECTS).
