Institutional Ethics Board

It is essential to take ethical principles into account in research, especially research conducted on or with humans. In order to ensure full compliance with ethical principles, the Ethics and Research Committee, founded in 2018, was expanded and integrated into the Institutional Ethics Board (IEB) in 2022. This acts as a committee of the College of Health Professions Upper Austria.

The Institutional Ethics Board decides on the basis of transparent and comprehensible criteria whether the submitted projects should be dealt with by the IEB or whether they must be submitted to an ethics committee (e.g. in the case of drug or medical device studies). The IEB also checks compliance with the ethical standards for clinical research set out in the Declaration of Helsinki and compliance with the rules of good scientific practice for future research projects and academic work.
