Lica – „Scientific support in further development of a digital platform (app) for family carers and a personal supervisors"

In Austria, nursing predominantly takes place at home. Mainly relatives or informal caregivers working for agencies which provide personal assistance are involved. Professional nurses and medical specialists are often contacted at a very late stage. This leaves both family and informal caregivers with a variety of challenges.

Term: 01.09.2021 — 31.08.2022

The aim of LICA Life Care GmbH is to develop a digital platform for family and informal caregivers to support and empower them in their daily activities.

The app is intended to facilitate long-term support of continous high-quality care for ageing people with individual needs at home.

As a research partner, the FH Gesundheitsberufe OÖ (University of Applied Sciences for Health Professions Upper Austria) developes 3 to 5 use cases.

When selecting the main topics of the use cases, particular demographic and epidemiological challenges of caregivers are taken into consideration. The developed cases contain possible strategies and interventions from a nursing perspective ꟷ addressing both the person who needs support and the caregiver.

In this context use cases are to be seen as extensively described examples which provide strategies based on scientific and practical expertise. These represent the basis for a concrete implementation of the app's content.

In addition the creation process includes a multi-professional sounding board (dietology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech therapy) to include various perspectives to ensure high-standard quality.
