Effects of the foetal gender on the selected obstetrical parameters
This project was executed at the University of Applied Sciences for Health Professionals Upper Austria in cooperation with the Institute for clinical Epidemiology at the Tiroler Kliniken GmbH. The gender of the unborn child and the resulting specifics have so far been overlooked in obstetrics, studies available on this are thus limited.
The aim of the project is to, by means of selected parameters to analyse the course of the pregnancy, the birth and puerperium while taking the foetal gender into account. The Austrian register of births at the Institute for Clinical Epidemiology at the Tiroler Kliniken GmbH records the obstetric results of all hospital births in Austria. This basic epidemiological data was made available to answer the questions. In the evaluation selected obstetric parameters (such as e.g. premature births, vaginal operational births, Apgar-scores post partum) were presented and interpreted while taking the foetal gender into consideration.
