Institutions in the health care sector are complex structures and a polyvalent education is necessary to manage them. Managers in the middle- and top management in the health care sector have a profound interdisciplinary expertise and distinguish themselves by their leadership- and management expertise. How do you become a manager in healthcare?

Anyone wanting to take on a management and leadership role in healthcare - especially in the hospital sector - should start the Master's programme in Management for Health Professionals - main focus on hospital management at the University of Applied Sciences for Health Professions Upper Austria in Linz. A relevant Bachelor's degree is required. The four-semester career-enabling programme finishes with the academic degree Master of Science in Health Studies (MSc). The programme combines scientific knowledge with practical experience and teaches social, problem-solving, and scientific competencies as well as management and leadership skills. In addition, healthcare and nursing students can acquire the recognised additional qualification “Specialisation for Leadership Tasks” in accordance with the Health and Nursing Care Act by combining the elective module “Care Management” (third semester) with the additional module “Science and Profession” (fourth semester).
