Data security information on the processing of personal data regarding the registration for the university entrance qualification examination (“Studienberechtigungsprüfung“)

The University of Applied Sciences for Health Professions Upper Austria, Semmelweisstraße 34, 4020 Linz, is, in accordance with current data protection laws, responsible for the processing of the personal data of applicants for the university entrance qualification examination (“Studienberechtigungsprüfung“). All relevant personal data which are supplied by the applicants in the course of exam admission will be processed for the purpose of checking prerequisites for the “Studienberechtigungsprüfung“ on the basis of the Universities of Applied Sciences Act (FHG). Both data supply and applying for exam registration are voluntary. However, it is not possible to apply for the registration for the university entrance qualification examination without providing the necessary data.

Data processing is justified by the necessity for the decision which has to be made with regard to whether or not a “Studienberechtigungsprüfung“ is possible (contract initiation – Article 6 Section 1 b General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Data will be processed through employing certified IT service providers. In justified individual cases submitted foreign certificates and diplomas will be sent to the relevant department at the Austrian Ministry of Education, Science and Research, and/or the competent Austrian representational authority in the country where the certificate was issued, and/or the acknowledged foreign educational institution for the purpose of both verifying the qualification and confirming the authenticity of the document.

The University of Applied Sciences for Health Professions Upper Austria has a justified interest in verifying the authenticity of the documents which will form the basis for the possible conclusion of the contract (Article 6 Section 1 f, also in relation with Article 49 Section 1 d GDPR). If admission to the “Studienberechtigungsprüfung“ has been granted at the University of Applied Sciences for Health Professions Upper Austria, the applicants will be informed separately about the further processing of data for the purpose of both conclusion and fulfillment of the educational contract, as well as for the legal reporting obligations. If admission to the “Studienberechtigungsprüfung“ is rejected, the application documents will be orderly stored in defence of any legal claims, and will be deleted three years from submitting the application towards the end of the respective academic year.

The applicants as the persons concerned have the right, at all times, to free information, correction, deletion, restriction, and transfer of their personal data as well as have been provided with a right to complain to the Austrian data protection authority at www.dsb.gv.at. These rights can be claimed by email to the data protection coordinator and the data protection officer at the University of Applied Sciences for Health Professions Upper Austria at datenschutz@fhgooe.ac.at, www.fh-gesundheitsberufe.at/datenschutz.
