In the Master-Study Programme “Management for Health Professional" the students develop leadership- and management skills for a lead position in the health care and social sector, especially in the hospital sector.

The aim of the extra-occupationally organised Master-Programme „Management for Health Professionals“ is to teach the students scientific methods, expert know how as well as a moral sense of responsibility and thereby conveying those principles, which they require for leadership- and management tasks in health sector institutions, in particular in hospitals. As well as professional methodological expertise, the students acquire and strengthen in particular their leadership and management skills as well as socio-communicative skills and self-competence.

The acquisition of knowledge in the first semster consists of a fundamental understanding of the health sector and it´s structures on the one hand and the acquisition of fundamental management skills on the other. In the second semester the focus is on operative hospital managment and the acquisition of knowledge from the first semester is intensified. The third semester focuses on skills acquisions in stratecic management. The transfer of know how from the previous modules is the instructional objective of the company project. The fourth semester treatment strategies for solving complex future problems in the health care system.

Furhter students can choose in the third semester one of the elective subjects research, care management or moderation. For nursing graduates of the higher service who complete the elective care management and an additional non-curricular module the master´s programme ist kept the same with “Special Training for Senior Nursing Staff” in accordance with the Austrian Health and Nursing Act.

Institutions in the health care sector are complex structures and a polyvalent education is necessary to manage them. Managers in the middle- and top management in the health care sector have a profound interdisciplinary expertise and distinguish themselves by their leadership- and management expertise. These show institutional responsibility as well as in the friendly and respectful contact with employees, colleagues and patients. Graduates are thus in a position to actively help establish work conditions in health care sector facilities and to deal critically with different work environments.

The expertise gained within the master´s programme enables the students to take on a management function in health care sector institutions.

Graduates can move into management positions in the middle- and top management in hospitals, retirement and care homes as well as in other health care institutions. There are also interesting job possibilities in the field of public administration and the social insurances.

The requirements for this programme are above all extensive professional know how, interest in working with and managing people as well as a high sense of responsibility.

Ability to communicate and be a team player should be one of your strengths. Organisational talent and willingness to continue further education are also very important.

The fundamental admission to the Master Study Programme is the completion of a relevant university of applied science Bachelor study or a similar study at an accepted post-secondary institute of education in Austria or abroad (e.g. MTD (health care services) and midwifery) or a higher university of applied science or university study.
